Tyler

Instructor / Choreographer

An Edmonton, Canada native Tyler began his training in tap at the age of 4.  At 6 years old he studied under personal instruction of Al Gilbert until age 14, when he graduated from Gilbert’s “Stepping Tones” curriculum.  He excelled in tap, but also has a strong foundation in Jazz, Ballet and Modern techniques.

Tyler then performed and competed on stages around Canada and the U.S. until age 17 when he was invited to join the cast of “Il Grande Circo”, a television show based out of Milan, Italy.  Since then, his career has taken him to over 30 countries and regions including Monaco, Belgium, Korea, Japan, Bermuda, Mexico, New York and Las Vegas.  He was a featured solo act for over two years on the Las Vegas strip, in the long running show “Splash” and has appeared in many television commercials including some for Burger King, and Mars candy bars.  Of all his experiences worldwide, Tyler considers the highlight of his career to be his 5 years touring with the all-male Australian hit show “Tap Dogs” which toured worldwide and continues to do so today.  As a cast member, Tyler held a lead role and found a new passion in the hard hitting rhythm style tap made famous by the Tap Dogs.

Tyler’s training and skills give him a defining edge in judging, choreographing and teaching nationwide.  He enjoys the opportunity to pass on the knowledge he has acquired throughout his career to the professionals of tomorrow.
